Allen retired in 1997 after 33 years as a history teacher in Marshall, WI. His wife, Linda Sweeney, is a retired Madison principal. Allen and Linda live on the east side of Madison.
During Allen's years as a teacher he served as a negotiator for the local for 28 years. He also served on the WEAC-Board of Directors, WEAC-PAC committee and numerous other committees.
Following his retirement from teaching, Allen served as WEAC-Retired President for six years and on the Retired WEAC Board of Directors. He spends enjoys working on political campaigns. Allen also spends a considerable amount of time reading and attempting to catch a muskie. Their cabin near Hayward gets lots of use now.
